Dufton is a small village that nestles under the Pennines, 13 miles from Penrith and 3 miles North of Appleby in Westmorland.
The Pennine Way, Pennine Bridleway and the Pennine Cycleway pass through the village.
The village is in an area still peacefully quiet, remote from the heavy tourist and business traffic to be found on the A66 and in the Lake District, which is only about 30 mins away.
The western dales of Yorkshire are also within half an hour’s journey by car.
Dufton was declared a conservation area on 27th June 2005. This defines the village as “ an area of special architectural or historic interest, the character or appearance of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance”
